Urinary Abnormalities in Hepatitis B Viral Infection

Abstract

|
|
The role of hepatitis B viral infection in the genesis of glomerular injury was examined by a retrospective analysis of medical record of 447 patients in whom 4 viral markers(HBs Ag, HBe Ag, anti-HBs, anti-HBc)and at least one simultaneous urinalysis were available.
The frequency of abnormal urinary findings was not different among groups with (1) HBV antigen(s) only, (2) both antigen(s) and antibody (ies), (3) antibody(ies) only and (4) neither antigens(s) nor antibody(ies).
The results of this study suggest that hepatitis B viral infection has no important role in the genesis of glomerular injury.
